Banners and Drapes
An invitation to exhibit my works in a chapel prompted larger pieces such as banners/hangings and curtains. I love the theatrical quality of draped and swagged fabric. Apart from the three large pieces made specifically for the exhibition, I hung the silk scarves in pairs and as the windows in the chapel were always open, they danced the month away!
Living Together
Interplay 30th Anniversary Banner
This was commissioned by InterPlay (who explore the wisdom of the body through movement and vocals) to celebrate their 30th Anniversary. It was printed on Silk Charmeuse.
I forget where I was but it was night and these lanterns which are the flower of the dreaded Mother of Millions (Bryophyllum daigremontianum), were back lit and beautiful. Also called devil’s backbone, alligator plant, or Mexican hat plant it is a succulent plant native to Madagascar. Non indigenous and almost as invasive as us! The “Lanterns” image was adjusted to the required size and text added.
